Diwali is a big holiday/festival in India and movie theaters in particular are swamped with new releases and audience around this time of the year. Though cinema halls will remain closed (atleast in Tamil Nadu) come November 14, 2020, which is Diwali day, the movie releases scheduled that week are as pompous as ever.

A Week Prior to Diwali:
- Laxmmi ( Hindi - Streaming Link: Disney + Hotstar) Nov 9, 2020 : The film featuring star Akshay Kumar and directed by Kollywood's own Raghava Lawrence is starting off the Diwali week and the film, which is a remake of Kanchana will be premiering on Disney Plus Hotstar OTT platform on November 9, 2020.
- Miss India ( Telugu/Tamil - Streaming Link: Netflix | Review ) Nov 4, 2020: Keerthy Suresh starrer Miss India will be starting off the Diwali month before that through a Netflix premiere on November 4, 2020. - Soorarai Pottru (Tamil - Streaming Link: Amazon Prime | Review ) - November 12, 2020 : This Suriya starrer big budget movie directed by Sudha Kongara is based on Indian entreprenuer B.R. Gopinath's book Simply Fly and will premiere on OTT platform Amazon Prime Video. Aparna Balamurali plays female lead with G.V. Prakash for music.
- Ludo (Hindi - Streaming Link: Netflix) - November 12, 2020 : Abhishek Bachchan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Rajkumar Rao and Pankaj Tripathi star in this Anurag Basu directorial which is the butterfly effect view of how four different journeys meet at crossroads and collide. The movie premieres on Netflix India.
- Maa Vintha Gadha Vinuma (Telugu - AHA) - November 13, 2020 : Regional OTT Platform, AHA is premiering this movie which has Netflix stars Siddhu Jonnalagadda and Seerat Kapoor of Krishna and His Leela fame. The film is directed by a newcomer Aditya Mandala.
- Chhalaang (Hindi - Amazon Prime) - November 13, 2020 : This Hansal Mehta directed film is premiering on Amazon Prime Video and stars Rajkumar Rai and Nushrratt Bharuccha in the lead.
- Naanga Romba Busy (Tamil - Sun TV | Review ) - November 14, 2020 : A remake of Telugu hit Maayabazaar, this film stars Prasanna, Shruthi, Shyam, Ashwin, Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh among others and is a Sundar.C production. The movie will be a direct television release and will be aired on Sun TV on Diwali day.
- Mookuthi Amman (Tamil - Streaming Link: Disney+ Hotstar | Review ) - November 14, 2020 : A devotional comedy starring RJ Balaji and Nayanthara, the film caan be streamed on Disney Plus Hotstar on Diwali day.
- Andhagaaram (Netflix - Nov 24,2020) - Film Produced by Atlee, which is expected to be released on Netflix
