Rape cases have never been on the low in India but the recent Hathras gang rape case left the nation fuming for a whole different reason altogether. After the 19-year old girl who was brutally gang-raped by four men in the Hathras village of Uttar Pradesh (UP) on September 14, 2020 died in a hospital, the UP Police cremated her body in the dead of the night while her family remained barricaded in their house.
While the girl's family claimed that the victim was grievously injured by the four men, the neurosurgeon who treated her at the hospital claimed that there were no obvious signs of sexual assault on her body. It is worth mentioning here that the victim was admitted and treated for over 10 days at the Aligargh hospital.
Nadir of political misbehavior! Shame on UP Police. We, the people, voted for such thuggery. Irrespective of the party and its philosophy, rancour and hate will only breed and multiply, unless condemned by the majority.

Several politicians have been calling out the 'forceful cremation' and Tamil actor-politician Kamal Haasan took to twitter to condemn the act himself, especially since the crime is suspected to be an action of cast-dominance.
