James Cameron's iconic motion capture movie Avatar may have had many ups and downs when it comes to sequels, but everytime an update is made on Avatar 2, it still garners a lot of interest. So it was no wonder when new set of behind-the-scene photos when unveiled on the official social media account of Avatar movie updates became a talking point more recently.
Sigourney Weaver who played Dr. Grace Augustine in the prequel is shown to be doing some performance capture work in two of these images suggesting she's playing a Na’vi, the blue avatar in the sequel. Producer of Avatar 2, Jon Landau shared a special mention for the 70-year old actress by writing, "Sigourney has never been one to shy away from an action scene. Here she is performing one for the Avatar sequels."
Avatar 2 is currently under production in New Zealand and is expected to release in 2022.
