6 Biggies Harris Jayaraj refused/missed in his Prime Time!

Harris Jayaraj was one of the most sought after music directors in the Tamil film industry between 2001-2010 and just like every other busy artist in Kollywood, the music director too has missed one too many big opportunities due to his hectic schedule. Here is a list of films the composer almost ended up working but did not in the end: 


1. Aalavandhan
Harris Jayaraj was assisting in the composing work of Kandukondein Kandukondein, when he was approached to debut as a full-time music composer with Kamal Haasan's Aalavandhan. Producer Thanu revealed later during an award function that at that time he wanted V Creations to be the company to launch Harris.

However, the then-budding composer refused the opportunity stating he had already promised Minnale, Majnu producers and that he will stay true to his commitment. Though the star-studded Aalavandhan became the first biggie Harris missed, the incident fetched a good name for the musician.
 

2. Pudhupettai
Harris revealed in an interview that director Selvaraghavan had approached him for the Dhanush starrer ganster-drama Pudhupettai. The composer refused it and the project went to Yuvan Shankar Raja. When Harris collaborated with Selvaraghavan for Irandam Ulagam, he went on to reveal,
 
"When Selvaragavan approached me for Pudhupettai, I felt that it was not my type of film. I thought he would be angry with me for not taking up that project but he did not and I am grateful."

 3. Dasavatharam
This was Harris Jayaraj's second missed opportunity with Kamal Haasan. The composer's name was associated with the project at one point of time but Himesh Reshammaiya and Devi Sri Prasad ended up doing it instead.
  

4. Velayudham
The makers of Velayudam, especially Vijay was very keen on getting Harris; it was even said that the team held multiple talks to get him onboard but the composer could not take up the project. Harris had tweeted at that time that he will surely compose for Vijay's immediate next film, which ended up being Nanban with director Shankar.
 

5. 24
It is a known fact among film circles that the Suriya starrer 24 was originally written for Vikram and the film even went on floors with Ileana as the heroine and Harris Jayaraj as the music composer. Director Vikram Kumar who ended up reviving the film with Suriya confirmed this fact though he kept the reasons for the first attempt dropping to himself.
 

6. NH24 (with Vetrimaran)
Director Vetrimaran has once revealed that he had narrated the story of NH24 to Harris Jayaraj, but the project didn't take off as planned. Years later, Vetrimaaran's assistant ended up directing the movie.
