It has been 4 months since the Tamil film industry last functioned in full capacity and the hit to the Kollywood economy is not looking at revival anytime soon. Since the outbreak of the pandemic Coronavirus, actors and directors like Vijay Antony, Harish Kalyan, Hari and Ajay Gnanamuthu have volunteered for huge pay-cuts from their already signed/in-progress projects to help this situation. 

Recently it was also reported that the producers in Kollywood have unanimously decided to reduce the salary of their top actors and technicians between 20%-50% though it remains to be seen if it will be implemented. Now, there is a strong buzz that actor Vijay who awaits the release of Master and will be seen next in an A.R. Murugadoss film has taken a voluntary remuneration reduction.  

It is worth mentioning here that Thalapathy 65 is yet to be officially announced and a confirmation on Vijay's pay reduction has not yet been obtained.
