Another Bigil Controversy! After-Effects of Vijay's Political Speech at Audio Launch?

PUBLISHED DATE | 24/Sep/2019

Only yesterday, we had reported about meat-shop owners accusing Vijay of "disrespecting the sanctity of their profession" and protesting against the same in Coimbatore. Now, the secretary of higher education in Tamil Nadu has sent a notice to Sai Ram College of Engineering, questioning them on the basis on which they allowed a Bigil audio launch, a movie related function to take place in their auditorium.

Both these developments come across as murky, for the poster against which the meat-shop owners were protesting has been around for three months now and the auditorium in question in the latter case has played host to several movie-related functions such as Sarkar and Petta with no objections prior to this.

Fans predict that Vijay's speech against the ruling AIADMK party at the Bigil audio launch is what has resulted in these sudden sprouts of protests. The actor had addressed the death of Subashri, a 23-year old who was fatally over-run by a truck after cut-out of an AIADMK leader fell on her and said, "It is unfortunate that the banner maker and lorry driver have been arrested but the main culprit (AIADMK leader who had put up his banner for a family function) who must be behind the bars is still roaming free.,"

Further taking a dig on the current government, the Thalapathy actor said, “It’s only when people place the right persons for the appropriate positions, everything will be alright. People with the right skills must be employed in each industry. You can’t entrust a person who knows how to braid flowers to man a fireworks shop,”

However, it is worth mentioning here that another reason for the notice could be the event organizers coming under the spot-light for mis-management of tickets, leading the crowd-controllers to get physical with the fans who had showed up to watch the event.
