Mahanati makes it to China's prestigious Shangai International Film Festival

 

The China based Shangai International Film Festival (SIFF) is one among the 15 non-specialized competitive film festivals accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers' Association (FIAPF) and thus holds a prestigious spot with the film community worldwide. For its competition this year which will be its 22nd edition, Mahanati from India has successfully made its entry and the same was confirmed by the film's director Ashwin Nag.

 

SIFF comes with three grand prizes for feature films and since one of them (SIFF's Golden Goblet Award for Feature Films) requires that any film be not showcased at any other FIAPF accredited non-specialized competitive film festival (Mahanati was screened at the 49th International Film Festival of India), the movie becomes eligible for The Asian New Talent Award and the International Panorama.



SIFF, 2019 will take place from June 15 to 24 in Shanghai, China and Tukish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan is heading the jury panel for the Golden Goblet Awards. It is worth mentioning here that Mahanati which features Keerthy Suresh, Dulquer Salmaan, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Vijay Deverakonda among others, has been titled Mahanati - The Great Actress for its festival screening.
