Yesterday, A.R. Reihana sister of A.R. Rahman and mother of G.V. Prakash and a composer and playback singer herself , came out in the open about the MeToo storm that has taken over the Tamil film industry. She issued a statement on how her Oscar winning musician brother reacted, when one of his most frequent collaborators - singer Chinmayi named his other frequent collaborator - lyricist Vairamuthu in the MeToo India movement.

Since Chinmayi's tweets, multiple women have come to the fore-front with accusations against Vairamuthu and an expectation lingered on the stand, A.R. Rahman would be taking on this issue.

Now, A.R. Rahman himself has issued a statement of his own on twitter and in doing so has joined a handful of people from the Tamil film industry, who have opened up on the MeToo topic.

However, his statement was met with mixed reactions on the internet with some welcoming him breaking his silence while others criticizing him for not taking a firm stand.
