Theatres in Chennai this week have been hit with new releases as well as releases from last week that have just made it into the city. A look into some of them:
- Dhadak (Hindi): An adapted story about first love fighting to survive among power play and societal norms, Dhadak features Ishaan Khattar and new face Jhanvi Kapoor. The film has opened to average reviews and has been rated with an aggregate of 52% in our movie rankings.
- Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation (English): The drac-pack from the famous animation franchise is back with a part 3 of their story and their latest features in a cruise ship, where Dracula (voiced by Adam Sandler) falls for the descendant of an enemy, while his daughter Mavis (Selena Gomez) tries to save the monster clan from destruction. However, with as with every part 3 of a franchise series, the movie seems to have dwindled in its charm factor, though it seems to work with viewers aged in single digit.
- Skyscraper (English): Strictly for Dwayne Johnson fans, sky-scraper sees The rock playing an FBI agent turned security asseser, who finds himself in a tricky situation of rescuing a trapped family from the a fire on the world's tallest building, while on the run from the law. The movie has opened to very mixed-reviews this week.
- Koode (Malyalam): This critically acclaimed Malayalam film has made it to theatres in Chennai and stands tall with an aggregate of 73% in our movie ratings. The movie is about tortured souls (Prithviraj, Parvathy) rediscovering the simple joys of life, with a little push from a person who is full of life (Naziya Nazim).
