Outside Snacks allowed inside Movie Theatres, says the Government of Maharastra!

Breaking the theatre-norms of not allowing any food from outside, the Maharasthra Government on Friday announced that the restriction on carrying eatables and beverages will be lifted henceforth. The announcement was made by Maharashtra Food and Supplies Minister Ravindra Chavan during the Assembly Session today.

Chavan also said that action would be taken against theatres and multiplexes, if they do not allow people to carry outside food, while maintaining that the government is still in the process of formulating a policy on what the penalty would be. He also stated that a multiplex cannot have a different price tag for a product, which is sold a comparatively lesser price outside.

The announcement is believed to be in lieu of recent events, when the Bombay High Court pulled up the state government and multiplexes based on a PIL complaining against the same.
