Dileep was never expelled from AMMA, reveals Mohanlal!

 

A few days ago, the Mohanlal lead Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA)'s incited an uproar of anger and shock from all quarters after it decided to reinstate actor Dileep, who is an accused in actress sexual assault and abduction case, and was expelled following his arrest by the Kerala Police. Despite the media attention surrounding this move, president of AMMA actor Mohanlal had maintained his silence on the issue as did other big names from the Malayalam Film industry. Now, in a latest press interview, Mohanlal has openly addressed the topic and he maintains that Dileep was never expelled from AMMA to be re-instated!

He has been quoted as saying,  “No formal steps were taken to expel him from the association (last year). Hence, we were to discuss Dileep's ouster from AMMA at the meeting last month. People who call AMMA patriarchal should have taken part in the meeting and discussed it then and there. Nobody opposed when it was decided to take Dileep back in the organization,"

Apparently Dileep was believed to be ousted from AMMA after the infamous emergency meeting at actor Mammootty's residence which Mohanlal has confirmed did take place but maintained that Dileep was outsed only under pressure from one group of AMMA and that no official documentation was done pertaining to the same. Mohanlal has also said that the assaulted victim had not filed a written complaint with AMMA, so the organisation is unable take any action.
