Kamal Haasan: Ignored AR Rahman while working with Ilayaraja

Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan in a recent interview to a leading magazine has shared his experience of working with several musical directors over a long span of his career. He has revealed an interesting byte regarding music composers Ilayaraja and AR Rahman.

"There was a time when Ilayaraja worked as a guitarist in the troupe of yesteryear composer Salil Chowdhury when both of us didn't know each other. Later we both had worked together in about 100 films. When AR Rahman came into the industry we didn’t bother to recognise him as we felt that there was already music supremo ‘Ilayaraja’. AR Rahman not only made the people of TamilNadu to look back at him with his stunning music, but also us.  Whenever such immense talents come up, its like I have earned a valuable asset for myself."

AR Rahman has composed score for Kamal Haasan's Indian and Thenali. Kamal Haasan is currently very active in politics after launching his own political party Makkal Needhi Maiyam. His long delayed Vishwaroopam 2 is slated for release on August 10, 2018. About 40% of the film shoot has been completed for Sabash Naidu, where Kamal Haasan will be reviving his popular Dasavatharam investigator role "Balramnaidu". The most anticipated Indian2 is expected to go on floors once Shankar is done with Rajinkanth's '2.0' which is getting delayed due to VFX works.
