Mr. Chandramouli Audio Launch: Highlights from the star-studded event

The album of Mr. Chandramouli, composed by Sam.C.S. marks the singing debut of Brinda Sivakumar who is the sister of actors Suriya and Karthi and its launch which was the first to happen post the 48-day film industry strike, turned out to be a star-studded event. Apart from the cast of crew of the film, TFPC president Vishal, treasurer SR Prabhu actors Suriya, Arya, Shantanu, directors AL Vijay, Kannan, Gaurav, Radhamohan, Ahathiyan and Mahendran too were present at the event. Some highlights from the event are excerpted below.

  • Producer Dhananjayan's revelation about actor Karthik : "When Thiru (the director) told me the story (of this film), I only told him one thing - If Karthik and Gautham Karthik agree to do this film together, then we can go ahead. And i should thank Thiru for convincing them with a beautiful story...In our industry, people have a habit of branding. I received a lot of phone calls saying Karthik would come late to the sets, you will not be able to finish the movie..but he was so involved in the film and asked why the film got over so quickly post wrap up"

  • Suriya statement on 'outsider' Gnanavel Raja: Producer Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green, most of whose films are with brothers Suriya and Karthi is often labelled in the media as related to the Sivakumar family. But Suriya's statement at the event suggested otherwise. "I am glad Brindha got her debut through Dhananjayan..because for all of us too (his father, him and his brother), a non-family member has been instrumental in giving us our first break. Only because Vasanth sir asked, I am standing on this stage as an actor, Only because Gnanavel insisted and said he'd take care did Karthi become an actor."

  • Producer AL Alagappan's advice to Gautham Karthik"My only advice to Gautham Karthik is he should inherit all good qualitites of his father Karthik's acting. Actor Karthik is someone who should have been equivalent to Kamal Haasan. I did not say this, Kamal himself said this.  But you should not let yourself be 'searched for' by a producer in a film's set. That was the only negative aspect of Karthik's. He used to be very difficult to spot during shooting. My sincere request is hero (Gautham) shouldn't be lead on that practice."

  • To this Karthik replied later on, "When they were searching, I was either in front of the camera or behind it. Where else would I be? He also said, "I got to know about this film through Jackie Chan..Gautham..(his son). He usually doesn't say it so I gave it a shot and this has easily been one of the best films of my career." During a rapid-fire later on, Karthik picked his 'guru' director Bharathi Raja over Mani Ratnam, Fazil and Agathiyan as his favourite director of all time.

  • The Suseenthiran connectionProducer Dhananjayan revealed that the title of Mr. Chandramouli was actually suggested by director Suseenthiran who is in no way connected to the movie. Suseenthiran on his part cracked up everyone by saying, "The songs of Mr. Chandramouli are a visual treat but for the audience gathered here. It won't reach the theatre audience because censor (board) won't let it...I don't know if Vishal has come here for Thiru (whom the actor has worked with) or Varu (Varalaxmi Sarathkumar whom he is allegedly in a relationship with).

  • Lyricist Vivek about No Hate Karthik"From the 80s till now, Karthik is one actor who has been a no-hate hero..For a song that I wrote for the father-son combination, I had penned Even if 300 stars come and go, I will shine bright like an agni-natchathiram. But Karthik wanted me to change it so as to not hurt anyone else even if I did not write it with that intention. I salute that heart."

  • Emotional Gautham Karthik:"I want to thank Thiru who gave me an opportunity to act alongside my father. Thiru..you do not know what you've done for me. As a kid I've gone to my father's shooting only twice, so I was overjoyed while  acting a whole film with him."

  • TFPC President Vishal's statement on the 48-day Strike: "On behalf of the Producers' council, I want to thank all the actors, actresses, Nadigar Sangam, theatre owners, FEFSI workers, media-friends and everyone associated with the cinema industry..Because it not a mean feat to carry on strike for 48-days and close down theatres..I will not take credit for it but because of Producers' council, Indian cine industry is looking back at the 'achievement' of the Tamil cine industry....Either people should profit or us who make films should profit but a third party is currently earning off both of us. We couldn't be idle even after knowing this for so long..My request to the artistes' managers especially the managers of actresses, please be clear about dates, dubbing availability, promotional events' availability, remuneration - please work for the betterment of the industry."
