Movie ticket prices reduced in Chennai multiplex theatres

Despite the state government's double taxes on movie tickets, some multiplexes in Chennai have decided to keep the basic price such that the total price inclusive of taxes doesn't exceed Rs. 200. However, this does not include the additional online booking charges. This decision by multiplex owners to use the lowest cap rate provided by the government, is being seen as a welcome move to increase the theatre audience. 

With a film like Mersal doing tremendously well in terms of popularity, to attribute the theatre crowd to the dropped prices would be a little premature. But if the trend of these prices continue, it would definitely give both the film-makers and the audience something to cheer about.
