Director Pa. Ranjith - S V Shekher's twitter exchange grabs eyeballs
Director Pa. Ranjith's outrage over casteism attributing to the suicide of Anitha, a 17 year old who hanged herself due to her low NEET scores, had garnered a lot of attention recently. While people were divided between whether or not caste had a role to play in it, a celebrity in particular took to his twitter account to talk about the same and gained a response from Pa. Ranjith as well. S. Ve. Shekher, former actor and a current member of the BJP, responded to the incident by writing :
Instead of calling himself a Tamilian, Ranjith refers to himself as a Dalit. My wishes and welcome to Ranjith, who proudly says his caste's name.
To this Ranjith replied :
Dalit is not a caste. It is a freedom opinion that destroys Aryans - other caste differentiation
It did not end here and S.Ve. Shekhar inturn retorted :
Son, you were the one who said Dalit. A freedom opinion that destroys Aryans - other caste differentiation, is an impractical opinion. Time will make you realize.
He did nit stop there and made a reference to Rajinikanth who is currently working in Pa. Ranjith's Kaala.
Your films' success is the catalyst behind your replies. With age and experience, you will gain clarity. My friend, your hero will explain it to you. My blessings.
This schooling by S.Ve. Shekher over casteism is currently grabbing a lot of eyeballs. On the other hand, Pa. Ranjith who is known for directing films like Madras and Kabali continues his stand against NEET and openly endorses the abolition of it.
