Venkat Prabhu to Vijay Awards - "Why Yuvan was not nominated for Mankatha?" 

The Vijay awards night was a huge success as proven by the popularity rating and the buzz it had created. However, there were a few minor wrinkles in the form of STR boycotting the event claiming that Vijay Awards is biased and Venkat Prabhu's open resentment when accepting the best villain award on behalf of Ajith Kumar for Mankatha.

During his acceptance speech, Venkat Prabhu questioned the jury as to why Yuvan was not even included in the list of nominations for best music director. Venkat Prabhu asked to replay the theme music of Mankatha and sought the reasons for why such an immensely popular track could be ignored from the nominated list. 

The Vijay Awards jury committee was comprised of filmmaker KS Ravikumar, cinematographer Rathnavelu, Yugi Sethu, Nadhiya and Lizzy Priyadarshan. The unofficial reason quoted by one of the above jury team members is that the much touted theme music was an inspiration from "Ready for War" by 50 Cents. Mankatha audio CD had even given the credit to the source. Apparently, this was the key reason for Mankatha soundtrack not considered in the nomination.
