MovieCrow Box Office Report - July 11 to 13

Last week saw the release of three movies, namely, Ramanujan, Nalanum Nandhiniyum and Pappali. While the first two movies received mixed reviews, the latter almost went unnoticed by the critics and general audience alike. Check out the box office ranking of Tamil movies in Chennai during last weekend (July 11-13).

1. Arima Nambi

Arima Nambi emerged as the clear winner last weekend, as the screen count of the movie was way ahead of other movies. Also, the occupancy level was steady, thanks to the favourable reviews and multiplex audience.

2. Ramanujan

The biopic on the Maths wizard Ramanujan received mixed reviews from the critics. While few went on to call the movie as a fitting tribute, few claimed that the genius deserved a better movie. Many of the shows in the city were blocked for special screenings for corporate companies and students.

3. Mundasupatti

The screen count of Vishnu Vishal's Mundasupatti has taken a dip, when compared to the previous week. However, having been declared as a hit already, the movie is still managing to get in decent crowd.

Other Movies

Nalanum Nandhiniyum got a below average opening, and also the show timings (mostly noon or night shows) are not helping the movie's cause. Saivam and Vadacurry are running at a handful of screens, while Aththi has vanished from all the screens.

Upcoming week's releases

Dhanush's most anticipated movie VelaiIlla Pattathari will be hitting the screens on July 18, along with the con-thriller Sathuranga Vettai, which will be distributed by Lingusamy's Thirupathi Brothers banner.
