Ennamo Nadakkudhu - Rapid Pace does the trick

Bharath Vijayakumar

An honest youngster in need of money gets trapped in a conspiracy involving a lot of money and big-shots from the political arena. He has very little time left to get out of this maze and also get hold of the much needed money to save his girlfriend.

Cast:

Vijay Vasanth's looks suit his character perfectly well. Not sure whether someone has dubbed for him as the voice does sound odd at times. His performance in the romantic portions is average at best. He impresses in one particular emotional scene with his mother. Mahima who was earlier seen in Saatai is decent. A little more finesse in the performance and interactions between the lead pair would have helped the movie a lot. Though Saranya Ponvannan has played the mother on screen so frequently in recent times, her role in this film has a different dimension to it and she excels again. The experienced trio of Prabhu,Rahman and Thambi Ramiah raise the stakes quite high with their performances.

Technical Team:

Premgi Amaren has done a decent job with the songs. The BGM too helps in maintaining the tension, particularly in the second half. The slum and TASMAC scenes in the film give almost a reality peek into these areas. The frames seem to be a little shaky at times. This might be intentional to have a happening feel about the film.

Hits and misses:

Director Rajapandi scores well by maintaining a rapid pace throughout the film. The film has no dull moments at any point. Something or the other is always happening on screen. In fact the entire second half is like a climax unfolding. None of the twists might hit you hard but there are enough of them to keep you interested. More care in the first half would made Ennamo Nadakkudhu a must watch. But the bonding between the hero and his mother though nicely done could have easily been reserved for some other film. These initial portions in the film are too loud and has an in your face type of presentation. The songs in the first half could either have been omitted or used more judiciously. After getting beaten to pulp and admitted to a hospital the hero immediately jumps across buildings on waking up!!! Such glaring carelessness hampers the relatability and the kind of emotional investment we would like to have on our hero who is in trouble.

Bottomline:

True to it's title something or the other happens throughout the film. If you do not mind some lacklustre scenes in the initial part, Ennamo Nadakkudhu does keep you engaged.

Verdict:

Ranking : 2.75/5
