Rajini the Villain

Tribute to the Best Villain of Tamil Cinema !

There are talks about people wanting to make December 12th as the 'World Stlye Day'. If we the fans had the power, it would be a National holiday. We all know that today Superstar exemplifes simplicity and humility. He has conquered stardom and power. He has crossed statelines and borders.

In all this, we often seem to forget what a remarkable actor he is. Sometimes, there is a teeny bit of sadness that we have lost Rajini, the villian in the process of making a Superstar. We wonder if Rajini ever feels that way. How can one forget '16 Vayathiniley' where 'Parattai' spitted venom so convincingly and made you loathe him? Or the sadistic husband he plays in 'Avargal'? Who can forget the feel of evil run through your spine when Rajinikanth opens the gate in 'Apporva Raagangal'? And then we almost lost the villian when Rajini made his transition to the Superstar. And the rest, we all know, is history.

We saw glimpse of that great actor in him, in Chandramukhi, Endhiran and Sivaji. In the last three movies, Rajini, with his villainy guffaw, walked all over the protoganist. When Sivaji returns as 'M.G.R', the theater roared! And as the bad robot, Rajinikanth sashayed through that role and we fell in love with the greatest villain all over again, wanting more.
