Selva Deserves Claps, Not Slaps!

Response to "Selva should be Slapped!"

Some people consider the little shell of theirs as the world itself. Just because they have not seen something in their life doesn't mean it can't happen to anybody in the world. I remember a video of a two year old kid in china, was run over twice by two mini vans and more than twenty odd people just passed by her before help arrived. She died after a week. The video is so disturbing. That is an example to understand how harsh and strange is truth in comparison to fiction. I don’t think mayakkam enna showed anything half as bad as this incident.

Karthik is a gifted photographer whose success was snatched away from him, ended up losing his direction and became insane after the accident. It is heartless to state that a man should stand up for himself after going through the worst in life.

There are men out there who abuse women. But, is Karthik Swaminathan a sadistic misogynist who enjoys beating women? Absolutely not. He probably didn't even realize what he was doing. Also it was not just his wife that he was beating. He thrashed some men too. Yamini saw Karthik's acts as a sign of mental illness rather than as abuse. By helping the lost man find his way back, Yamini shows that she didn't forget the man she loved. That is the heights of love and being noble, not madness...

Finally, when someone says he wants a wife like Yamini, it doesn mean he wants a woman who will take his beatings. He just wants a woman to walk beside him during good and bad times. Mayakkam Enna simply says that relationships are not just about enjoying the good times with one another. It is standing by and helping out your partner at bad times as well.

And for all the men who want a Yamini, please be one for your wife too.
