Selva should be slapped!

Selva should be slapped!

(Woman's viewpoint about Mayakkam Enna)

Glorifying a woman who tolerates physical abuse and giving her an 'iron woman' award... wanted to slap Selva...was that angry!  What is worse, people on twitter are saying "I am going to see a girl today, I hope she is like Yamini'... Men today want wives like Yamini...which man wouldn't want one?

  • Why can't the hero be portrayed as a spineless, gutless character who couldn't pick himself up, takes up alcohol, lives of his wife's salary. Instead, he has an 'accident'. What an excuse for the character... Hero illa, that's why. I don't think he was mentally ill, just lacked the strength to live his life. Wish Selva had the guts to portray that instead of using the 'accident' as an excuse.

  • Which female continues to date a guy who she hates. What does that say? Women exploit men... I mean, the guy thinks of proposing to her and she has no clue and doesn't put an end to it. She even takes bath with door open when this 'date' is there. Is Yamini so messed up to such an extent that she would do such a thing in front of a man she does not love/lust.

  • Really, which women flashes sanitary pad to the husband to say 'no sex tonight'. Women are a lot subtle about these things. all class of women. I will not even get into the hero farting after sex and Yamini spitting on hero's face... Selva can stop his 'sex education' sessions.

  • The whole blood scene and her wiping it was nauseating. There were women and families with kids who left right during that scene.

  • A woman is stupid, foolish to even consider having a child when her husband is insane and unable to provide to the family. This is not love, this is pure unadulterated madness. This is not a strong woman. What's worse, the woman continues the relationship even after a miscarriage (due to abuse). Please explain this to me.

  • All the characters were weak and one-sided. be it the friends or the lead themselves. It was all convenient. Selva wanted to define ideal characters in his own twisted way... but, he fails to realise there is such a thing as reality. Its so disconcerting that people call this movie 'realisitic'. This is one movie which is the other spectrum of realistic.

Why Yamini is not a strong woman? The era of sati-savithri's are long gone. We are tired of the portrayal of woman who endure, suffer, sacrifice as strong. For once, I would like to see a woman who chooses happiness, self-respect and life.
