Producer Boney Kapoor has paid an emotional tribute to filmmaker K Bhagyaraj, who passed away in Chennai on June 27 following a cardiac arrest at the age of 73.
Taking to X, Boney called Bhagyaraj "a true genius" and said Indian cinema had lost one of its finest storytellers while he had lost a dear friend. He highlighted the filmmaker's body of work from Mouna Geethangal and Thooral Ninnu Pochchu to their Hindi remakes including Woh Saat Din and Beta — as enduring proof of his creative brilliance and deep understanding of human emotions. "You may no longer be with us, but your films, your legacy, and the lives you touched will continue to live on forever," he wrote.
Deeply saddened to hear of your passing. Indian cinema has lost one of its finest storytellers, and I have lost a dear friend.
