As Suriya's Karuppu finds a new audience following its Prime Video premiere, actor Arya has opened up about his cameo in the film, which was eventually edited out of the final cut.
The film's editor Kalaivanan had earlier revealed that Arya's was the longest cameo to be trimmed from Karuppu, while assuring that the deleted portions would be released separately by the makers.
Addressing the matter himself, Arya said he had shot a small experimental role for the film, but director RJ Balaji later informed him that the portions did not fit into the larger narrative and would be removed. Arya added that the two plan to collaborate again on another project in the future.
Karuppu features Suriya as a guardian deity who descends to Earth to aid a distressed family, only to uncover a legal system long compromised by corruption — setting him on a path to reform it.
