Karuppu editor Kalaivanan has revealed a hidden GOAT reference in the film that slipped past most viewers, even the sharp-eyed fan theorists who were dissecting every frame of the teaser and trailer ahead of release.

Speaking to RedNool, Kalaivanan pointed to a metro scene where a man in a helmet can be spotted standing in the background, a nod to Vijay and Venkat Prabhu's The Greatest of All Time. He noted that while fan theories were flying thick and fast before release, very few had caught this particular callback. The scene was eventually moved to the deleted sections as it was a small shot that did not fit the final cut.

Karuppu, directed and written by RJ Balaji, has Suriya playing a guardian deity who takes the form of a lawyer to deliver justice. The film has crossed Rs 130 crore in Tamil Nadu alone, already surpassing Retro to become the highest-grossing film of Suriya's career.
