From Observation to Screen: Selvaraghavan on Mental Manadhil

Director Selvaraghavan, in a recent interview to a weekly magazine, shared insights into how his upcoming film Mental Manadhil took shape.

Speaking about the film’s genesis, Selvaraghavan said that a script is something that constantly forms in the mind through everyday observations. “Observing what we see and hear, and imagining everything visually — that has always been our job,” he noted.

He revealed that the idea for Mental Manadhil stemmed from observing a woman and a young boy who, in his view, were like “two different planets.” According to him, bringing such contrasting personalities into a relationship itself would be difficult — and if love were to bloom between them, it would feel like a “time bomb.”

The director added that the film was born out of these thoughts and his desire to deeply explore the emotional world of Gen Z youngsters. He concluded by inviting audiences to watch the film and share their thoughts.
