Oscars 2025: India gets a shout-out! Anora, The Brutalist, Emilia Perez, A Real Pain, Wicked, Dune Part 2 win big

The 97th Academy Awards aka the Oscars 2025, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), took place on March 2, 2025 i.e. March 3, 2025 between 5: 30 AM to 8: 30 AM in Indian Standard Time. The Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles is where the ceremony was held, and first time Oscar host Conan O' Brien made a special shout-out to the Hindi speaking population of India when he said,  

 

"Logo ko namaskar. Waha subha ho chuki hai to mujhe ummeed hai ki ap crispy nashte ke sath Oscars dekhenge, (Translation: Greetings to people (of India). It's morning there, so I hope you are watching the Oscars with crispy breakfast)."

 

Rom-com Anora (2024) was the biggest winner at the Oscars 2025, winning five of its six nominations. Epic period drama The Brutalist (2024) took home three trophies, while the most nominated movie of Oscar 2025 i.e. the Spanish crime comedy Emilia Perez (2024) took home two.

 

Fantasy film Wicked (2024), and space opera Dune: Part 2 (2024) are the other Hollywood movies that took home two Oscars each. The full list of Oscar 2025 winners here:
