Actress Shruthi Haasan's last film  in Tamil was the Vijay Sethupathi starrer Laabam (2021), which in itself came after a four year gap since her previous theatrical release Singam 3 (2017). Now after another four year gap, Shruthi Haasan will have a Tamil movie release in theaters with the Rajinikanth starrer Coolie (2025). 

Coolie is written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj with whom Shruthi Haasan has shared screen-space with before. The actress is working for the first time with Rajinikanth on the other hand. Sharing her experience on getting to work with the Rajinikanth-Lokesh Kanagaraj duo, Shruthi told the TOI,

"Working on Coolie has been amazing. Everyone on the team has been amazing. Everyone on the team has been working really hard. I always wanted to work with Lokesh because I liked his movies very much. So, it's been great. And, of course, working with Rajini sir has been absolutely fantastic and a brilliant learning experience for me." 

 

Coolie is a production venture of Sun Pictures. It has Anirudh Ravichander for music and also has Aamir Khan (cameo), Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Upendra, Sundeep Kishan, Reba Monica John, Baburaj, among others.
