Amidst an ongoing online battle of who composed better music - AR Rahman for Indian (1996) or Anirudh Ravichander for Indian 2 (releasing July 12, 2024), director Shankar, the filmmaker behind both films has dropped a bombshell. Shankar taking to his X page hours before Indian 2's release, revealed that some of AR Rahman's Indian themes, that the two-time Grammy winner composed for the 1996 musical blockbuster, is returning in the sequel.

Sharing an image with both AR Rahman and Anirudh, director Shankar thanked the musicians for their co-operation in making this nostalgia possible. Indian original soundtrack comprises of 30 theme scores. It remains to be seen which of these AR Rahman composed tracks are returning in Indian 2.

A direct sequel to Indian, Indian 2 sees the return of Kamal Haasan as the ageing vigilante Senapathy, who is out to weed out corruption in India.
Indian 2 is backed by Lyca Productions, Red Giant Movies and comes with a runtime of 3 hours and 4 seconds. The movie is also releasing in Telugu as Bharateeyudu 2 and in Hindi as Hindustani 2.
