Mansoor Ali Khan fined Rs 1 lakh! No defamation suit against Trisha, Chiranjeevi, Khushbu

The Madras High Court on Friday refused actor Mansoor Ali Khan's plea to file a defamation suit against actors Trisha, Chiranjeevi and Khushbu Sundar. To the unversed, senior actor Mansoor Ali Khan who last seen in the Lokesh Kanagaraj directed Leo, had made suggestive comments about Leo lead actress Trisha Krishnan in an interview surrounded by the Tamil press. During the same interaction which later went viral via YouTube, Mansoor Ali Khan had also made low-brow remarks about actors turned politicians Khushbu Sundar and Roja Selvamani.

This was called out by Trisha, Khushbu and Telugu star actor Chiranjeevi on the X platform, which Mansoor Ali Khan felt was "damaging to his public image". A police investigation, an apology, a retraction and several media tantrums later, Mansoor Ali Khan set out on a crusade to sue Trisha, Chrianjeevi and Khushbu.

The Madras High Court however road-blocked Mansoor Ali Khan by stating on December 22 that that actor's intended defamation suit seemed like a publicity stunt. Taking cognizance of the same, the HC also imposed a fine of Rs. 1 lakh on the actor, directing the amount to be paid to Adyar Cancer Institue.

During a previous hearing on December 11, the Justice had remarked prima facie that Trisha was the aggrieved party here, and she should have been the one to approach the Court. The HC added to this on Friday stating that the reaction from Trisha, Chrianjeevi, Khushbu and others to Mansoor Ali Khan's statements, was how 'any normal person' would have reacted.
