1. Lijomol Jose (Jai Bhim) One of the most powerful performances in Tamil cinema this year was Senggeni's in Jai Bhim. Lijomol Jose not only cemented her place in Tamil cinema with it, but made more than just the target audience sit up and take notice. That she did this while sharing screen space with a well established star power, speaks volumes of her acting in the movie.

2. Dushara Vijayan (Sarpatta Parambarai)

Another actress who stamped her acting ability this year, Dushara was memorable as the firecracker Mariyamma in Sarpatta Parambarai. Her performance was among the better things about the movie and she made her character stand out, even with limited time and shared space.

3. Keerthi Pandian (Anbirkiniyaal)

Shouldering a solo movie with a remake of an already successful film can go both ways for an actor, but Keerthi Pandian aced this challenge significantly. An aware and convincing performance from this upcoming face.

4. Priyanka Arul Mohan (Doctor)

Doctor was Priyanka Mohan's Tamil debut and the actress made a solid impression with her pivotal role in the movie. She breezed through her clear-minded yet curious character, with a contained and enjoyable performance.

5. Regina Cassandra (Nenjam Marapathillai, Kasada Thapara)

Regina was noticably good as the only subtle part of the whacky Nenjam Marapathillai, whereas in Kasada Thapara she continued her screen dominance with her portrayal of an ambitious young girl.
