On Tuesday, a video of actor Simbu (STR) catching a snake hanging from a tree and securing it to a gunny bag was shared widely on social media, suggesting that it could be one of the leaked scenes from the actor's upcoming film Eeswaran. However, the video has now spelt trouble for the movie's team for a complaint has been filed under with the forest department under Wildlife (Protection) Act.

"The snake in the video looks real and appears like it has been defanged or drugged. This amounts to animal cruelty," the complainant, who has also filed with the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) has been quoted as saying.

Reportedly, the forest department has already taken up the matter with Eeswaran makers, on grounds that snakes are performing animals and real, live ones are not supposed to be used in movies.
