Simbu excels in this largely satisfying rural drama

STR's vintage changeover is promising, but Eeswaran falls short of expectations.

If the film had a proper conflict around which the story was built, and if the film had taken more time to flesh out proper arcs for a few more characters, the emotional connect would have been better, which would have made the film very different from what it is, in a positive way. (more)

Does justice in parts as a festival entertainer

Billed as a festival entertainer, the movie does justice in parts, thanks to a few scenes which involve the family members. Silambarasan's committed performance and Thaman's background score lift the movie, which otherwise, has a predictable screenplay with cliches galore.(more)
