The students of Madras University in Chennai have been in protest against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act which grants citizenship to Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Christians, Jains and Parsis who entered India till December 31, 2014 from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan [Controversial part is exclusion of Muslims].
The protest had been going on since Monday, when Kamal Haasan who himself has been against the law, paid them a visit, though he wasn't allowed inside the campus. Images of the actor expressing solidarity from behind the gates went viral on Wednesday and the actor even made a statement to the media saying,

However hours after Haasan's meeting with the students, Chennai police arrested atleast 15 students from the campus who have been protesting since the infamous clash between Delhi police and Jamia, AMU students.
