Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping met on an informal summit at Mamallapuram in Chennai recently. Modi had penned a poem in Hindi, during a morning walk along the scenic coast of Mamallapuram which he shared on social media saying the "conversation" carried the "world of my feelings". He later shared the Tamil version of the poem which was appreciated by Tamil film personalities. 

PM Modi also replied to Producer / Distributor G. Dhananjayan and actor Vivekh who had appreciated his poem and love for Tamil language.

Dhananjayan had tweeted, “Amazing love of our Hon. @PMOIndia @narendramodiji for #Tamil. We all must celebrate his love & support to our language. Thank you sir” to which PM had replied, “Glad to be expressing myself in the world's oldest language, which has nurtured a vibrant culture. The Tamil language is beautiful, the Tamil people are exceptional."

Tamil actor Vivekh wrote, "Saluting nature is saluting God..! Bcoz nature is the Almighty!! Great! Hon @narendramodi sir! Thank you on behalf our nation, for your lovable poem on mahab ocean...!" Modi replied saying, “Thank you @Actor_Vivek! Respect for nature is a key part of our ethos.
