Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi who was last seen in PM Narendra Modi's biopic, will be producing a multilingual film on the Balakot Air Strikes, which lead to the capture and eventually the release of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman. The movie will be made in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu and is expected to go on floors later this year.

“The Balakot air strikes were one of the most well-planned attacks by the IAF. I have followed everything in the news right from the attack in Pulwama to the air strikes in Balakot. There was a lot that was speculated and spoken about back then; this film will put all of that to rest, once and for all.

I thank the IAF for trusting us with this story and we hope to do justice to it..this film is a powerful tool to underline the achievements of brave officers like Wing Commander Abhinandan, who went behind the enemy lines and did what makes every Indian proud of them..", said Vivek of his upcoming project.

The film is expected to release in 2020 and will be shot in the backdrop of Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi and Agra.

Chennai based Abhinandan Varthaman became the face of a tense military confrontation between India and Pakistan, when India tried to counter the Pulwama terror attacks with an air-strike earlier this year. The 36-year-old IAF pilot was captured by the Pakistani Army on February 27, 2019 after the MiG-21 Bison he was flying was shot down, and he was eventually released on March 1, 2019.

Abhinandan was conferred a Vir Chakra, India's third highest gallantry award for downing an F-16 Pakistani fighter jet before his capture and he recently started flying again after being on rest for about 6 months.
