With the 10 years challenge seeping into every form of media outlet, we decided to take a look at some significant events in Tamil cinema like a movie that became a cult or a physiques that became a trend, actors who debuted to the songs that raged; and here is a list that we found to have left a significant impact between the later half of 2008 and the whole of 2009:

 

Vishnu Vishal (Actor): Actor Vishnu Vishal made a spectacular entry into Tamil cinema with Vennila Kabaddai Kuzhu in 2009 and ten years later he is still delivering spectacular films like Ratsasan.

 

Soori (Comedian): The same film that gave us Vishnu Vishal also gave Tamil cinema a new comedian named Soori whose humble background and effortless comic timing has made him sustain the last 10 years and still be relevant in today's date.

 

Shruthi Haasan (Actress / Singer): 10 years ago was also the time when Kamal Haasan's daughter Shruthi Haasan made her full-time foray into the movies and she made her debut in Tamil by singing in Vaaranam Aayiram and composing for Unnaipol Oruvan and in Bollywood she acted and sang in the film Luck.

Vijay Sethupathi: 2009 was a time when Vijay Sethupathi was still an unknown name and was doing uncredited roles but since we are looking back, we couldn't go without putting up this frame from Vennila Kabaddi Kuzhu.

 

Besides this, some other notable entries from 10 years ago were that of Shanthanu Bhagyaraj's in Sakkarakatti,  Vimal's in Pasanga, Vaibhav Reddy's in Saroja and Ganesh Venkatraman's in Abhiyum Naanum.
