Sarkar shattering pre-release records across the globe

Thalapathy's Sarkar, directed by AR Murugadoss, is all set to take an earth-shattering opening tomorrow. Reliable trade pundits are predicting that the film will rewrite the pre-release records in many parts of the world.

Kerala

In Kerala, Sarkar is releasing across 402 screens, which is the highest for any movie there so far. The previous highest screen count was for Kayamkulam Kochunni, which released across 357 screens. Sarkar has also got advance bookings worth ₹3 crore, which is a phenomenal achievement.

USA

According to trade sources, the USA premiere collection is inching towards the $500k mark, which will be the highest gross for a Vijay film so far. Earlier, Mersal had grossed $404k from the premiere shows.

Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry

Since the Tamil Nadu government hasn't given permission to have midnight and early morning shows, there is a huge demand for tickets for other shows starting at 8 am across the state. All the shows at SPI Cinemas properties across Chennai, Coimbatore and Pondicherry are sold out completely for the first 2 days. Mayajaal has a whopping show count of 78 for the first day, and all of them are sold out. Other popular multiplexes like Jazz Cinemas (sold out for 2 days) and AGS Cinemas (almost sold out on the opening day) are also seeing tremendous advance bookings. If the movie releases to a positive word of mouth, the trade is expecting all the screens in the state to register housefull shows until Sunday, which will ensure new box office records.
