Actor Kamal Haasan is only days away from releasing the sequel of his directorial venture Vishwaroopam 2 and is seen making ample public appearances in lieu of both his film releases and political campaign. He was spotted at one such event in Kochi, Kerala and when asked about Kerala cine industry's (AMMA) most controversial move of reinstating Dileep, an accused in a sexual assault case of an actress, Kamal Haasan had this to say:

"If you find someone with a background which is been proven legally as wrong, then it (reinstating) is wrong. About forgiving (the accused), you can do it as a person. But as a whole group, proper discussions need to be held before taking such a decision. They (AMMA) must have a dialogue between the people or groups (WCC) who are saying that this shouldn't be done. That's my take on this issue. And ultimately, its a congregation of artistes. If everybody does not cooperate, how will it ever function?"

The Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes and its President Mohanlal came under fire after talks of Dileep being reinstated gained attention from all over. Actresses from the WCC including the assault survivor have since quit AMMA, before it was finally suggested that Dileep has never been expelled formally to be reinstated to the association.
