Kaala: Pro-Kannadiga outfits move for a ban on the Rajinikanth starrer!

PUBLISHED DATE | 28/May/2018

Rajinikanth starrer Kaala hits theatre screens on June 7, 2018 and the buzz surrounding the film is now more than ever. While a lot is riding on the release of this Pa. Ranjith directorial, a recent report suggests that as many as ten letters from various pro-Kannada outfits have reached the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, demanding a state wide ban on Kaala. Apparently a meeting was held on Saturday and Kannada activist Vatal Nagaraj too was in favour of not releasing the film in the state.

The report also quotes KFCC President Sa Ra Govindu to have saidKannadigas are upset with Rajinikanth’s comments on the Cauvery issue and so his film will not be released in Karnataka. We have requested theatre owners and distributors not to be associated with the film ‘Kaala’ in any way...We are proud of Rajinikanth, who is from Karnatka and has grown to great heights. We would watch his films for his entertaining performances though it was made in another language. But not anymore...As an actor, he always handled issues on Cauvery in a diplomatic way. But when he entered politics and formed a party, he made a direct attack on us, which has not gone down well with Karnataka. It is a question of our prestige and we want to keep our word. We  will not allow his film to be released here,”

Kaala will meet its international competitor - the Chris Pratt starrer Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom at the Indian box-office and internationally, it is releasing in countries like USA, New Zealand, Australia, Burma and Fiji.
