Tamil Film industry Strike: Chennai Theatres alone in function

As announced, the Tamil cine industry went on a total shut-down today with no local or outdoor film shootings, post-production work and theatre closures adding to the continuation of no-film releases. Surprisingly, the theatres in Chennai continue to function as usual, indication a no-support to the industry-wide strike from the Chennai Theatre Owners Association. Late last evening, they has aslo issued a statement confirming the same.

"We will not close the theatres and won't support the strike which begins on March 16. We will not participate in the Strike. All Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam movies will be screened as always."

While the Tamil Nadu Film Producers' Council is striking against Digital Service Provider QUBE, the rest of the Theatres are fighting against the government of Tamil Nadu.
