FEFSI strike to cause delay for Rajini, Vijay, Suriya and Vikram?
Following an announcement from the FEFSI President RK Selvamani that a strike would commence from August 1, 2017 if the Tamil Film Producers' Council (TFPC) refuse to agree for the new wage demand, the fate of many A-list films has become a big question. The films that are likely to get affected due to these strikes are:
1. 2.0 (Rajinikanth)
2. Kaala (Rajinikanth)
3. Mersal (Vijay)
4. Vellaikkaran (Sivakarthikeyan)
5. Thaana Serntha Kootam (Suriya)
6. Dhruva Natchathiram (Vikram)
7. Sketch (Vikram)
Industry buzz suggests that the the strike is expected to prolong for a period of one month, and these films which are currently in various stages of shooting and post-production are likely to see a delay in that process, which in turn will affect their already set release dates. The only films to have escaped this unexpected disruption are Ajith's Vivegam and Dhanush's VIP 2 as they have completed post-production.
In response to this proposed strike, TFPC Presisent Vishal has made it clear that shootings will continue to progress with or without the support of FEFSI. Citing the example of losses caused to the Billa Pandi team, he has also said that the technicians' union has always pressurized the producers' council and has caused huge losses to them. Given this awkward situation, we will have to wait and see if the work of the aforementioned films could be carried out smoothly and on time
