Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati set gets attacked again

Following the physical assault on Padmavati director Sanjay Leela Bhansali (read about it here), the National award winning director's set has once again been attacked at Kolhapur. In the vandalism that was carried out on the night of March 14, 2017, the film's sets were set on fire and a horse is said to have been badly injured in it. The attackers were estimated around 40-50 in number and were seen carrying petrol bombs, stones and lathis. As none of the cast and crew were present at the location during the time of attack, they have all been deemed safe.

Following the incident, earlier today a complaint was filed with the Police and a few suspects have bee taken into custody.

These protests against Bhansali's film began when allegations started doing the rounds that the film has love scenes between Queen Padmini (played by Deepika Padukone) and Allaudin Khijli (played by Ranveer Singh) whereas according to history, the queen killed herself along with many women before submitting themselves to the Mughal Emperor. Also, despite being pointed out that Padmavat (a 16th century poem on which the film is based) is completely fictional, the attacks do not seem to stop. The movie also starrs Shahid Kapoor who plays Raja Rattan Singh, husband of Padmini in the film.
