Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali gets physically assaulted
In a video clipping that is going viral on the social media, National award winning director
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is shown being physically assualted and his shoot getting disrupted by a group of men. On Friday, the director was viciously attacked on his sets, while filming his upcoming directorial Padmavati. The protestors reportedly belong to the Rajput KarniSena, who stormed into the Jaigarh Fort at Jaipur and carried out the vandalisation. These protestors allege that Bhansali has love scenes between Queen Padmini (played by Deepika Padukone) and Allaudin Khijli (played by Ranveer Singh) whereas according to history, the queen killed herself along with many women before submitting themselves to the Mughal Emperor.
Leader of the group Narayan Singh was quoted saying,
"We had warned the filmmaker against presenting wrong facts. When we came to know about the shooting, we gathered there and protested,"
Gulab Chand Kataria who is the home minister of Rajasthan, has let out a rather diplomatic statement not favouring any parties involved. He said:
“Anger should not be shown by breaking the law. It’s natural to be angry but people should come to the police who will then investigate. We will now probe and find out who’s at fault and who’s not,”
However, the attack has not gone down too well with the film personalities of this country. They not only came in support of the director but also condemned the attack by the Rajput Karni Sena and demanded that the guilty be reprimanded.
Having been through many instances of turmoil during a film shoot or release...i understand Sanjay's emotion at this point...I stand by him.
