Bombay HC to order takedown of content violating Kartik Aaryan's personality rights

The Bombay High Court on Wednesday said it will pass orders directing the takedown of online content that infringes upon Kartik Aaryan’s personality rights.

The order will cover unauthorised commercial use of the actor’s name, image, and likeness across digital platforms.

As per reports, Justice Sharmila Deshmukh indicated that relief would be granted in Kartik’s favour. The development came after his counsel, Birendra Saraf, highlighted instances of misuse, including objectionable and misleading content circulating online.

The plea filed by Kartik stated that his identity was being exploited through unauthorised merchandise, advertisements, and digital media without consent. It also flagged the use of artificial intelligence-generated videos and deepfakes, some of which were allegedly defamatory in nature.

Seeking legal remedy, the actor requested a permanent injunction to restrain entities from using his photos, videos, voice, or any personality attributes for commercial purposes. He also urged the court to direct online intermediaries and authorities to remove such content and reveal the identities of anonymous offenders.

On the work front, Kartik Aaryan was last seen alongside Ananya Panday in Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri (2025). He will next be seen in the creature-comedy Naagzilla.
