MovieCrow Box Office Report - February 2 to 5

The production houses are increasingly preferring to release their movies on Thursdays to get a 4-day opening even during non-festive times. In this direction, the much anticipated Jayam Ravi-Arvind Swamy duo's Bogan and Jai's Enakku Vaaitha Adimaigal had hit the screens last Thursday (February 2). Check out the box office rankings of Tamil movies in Chennai during last weekend.

1. Bogan

The expectations on director Lakshman were naturally high since Jayam Ravi and Arvind Swamy are coming together after the runaway blockbuster, Thani Oruvan. In spite of the mixed reviews, Bogan managed to get take a good opening due to the buzz. It'd be interesting to see if the movie braves the Si3 storm this weekend.

2. Enakku Vaaitha Adimaigal

Director Mahendran Rajamani's EVA, starring Jai, Karunakaran, Kaali Venkat and Pranitha in the lead roles, had a limited release across multiplexes and the occupancy levels were also not great. Not-so-great reviews mean the movie's prospects at the box office don't look bright.

3. Bairavaa

Vijay's Bairavaa lost majority of its screens in its 4th weekend to new releases. Several external factors including the Jallikattu protests limited the movie collections in the city.

Other Movies

In spite of receiving positive reviews, Adhe Kangal couldn't sustain the momentum at the box office as it lost a concerning number of screens in its second weekend. The latest sensation, Dhuruvangal 16 ran across a handful of multiplex screens with good occupancy levels.

Upcoming week's releases

Suriya's Si3, which got postponed a few times, is finally hitting the screens on February 9.
