Sri Thenandal Getting Into Bigger League?

Sri Thenandal Films, a banner once synonymous with Hindu devotional movies underwent a massive change about six years ago. The change included this art house, which has a credit of about 750 films in PAN Indian distribution, shift their focus of interest from devotional to horror. In the last two years alone, all notable horror movies of Kollywood (AranmanaiPisasuKanchana 2Demonte ColonyJackson DuraiNayaki and the like) have been bought and distributed by Sri Thenandal Films. While the banner's game on the distribution front is on point, their production ventures are no small deals either.

This year alone, the production part of the company had two releases (Aarathu Sinam, Dhilluku Dhuddu). Added to this, they had the news mongers talking when it was announced that Sundar. C's heavily budgeted directorial will be funded by them. This project, which is incidentally their 100th production garnered further attention when names like A. R Rahman, Sabu Cyril were added to the team and the budget estimate propelled it to the status to the costliest-movie-under-construction. Reports even suggested that the team has been trying to rope in Deepika Padukone for this historic action flick, which is tentatively titled Sangamithra.

While this was underway, industry mills started buzzing about their further collaborations. News had it that the star rated Vijay-Atlee duo, who have proved themselves to be a blockbuster combo with theri, have teamed up with the production house for their next project together. Added to this industry insiders suggest that the constantly radared Dhanush - Karthik Subbaraj team-up, will supposedly be backed by Sri Thenandal Films. Though there hasn't been an official word from the production house regarding either of the projects in mention, we sure can say that Sri Thenandal Films is slowly but steadily setting its footprint into the major league of this movie business.
