An Engaging Actioner with Enough Masala!
Sloppy at parts and the villain characters using their physical abilities alone is questionable. However, we have a winner in hand with a cautious threat, the strong want for the hero and the enjoyable commercial elements uplifting the flow.(more)

Sivakarthikeyan, Murugadoss deliver a smartly packaged commercial entertainer
A graceful Rukmini Vasanth as the love interest, a swaggering Vidyut Jamwal as the antagonist, and a reliably grounded Biju Menon provide ample support. Of course, the film uses the crutch commercial cinema's creative licence - a hero who can take innumerable punches and not even a stray bullet, a v...(more)

Works only in bits and pieces
Madharaasi is an action-packed entertainer that clicks only in parts. The hero's characterization, Sivakarthikeyan's captivating performance, some fun moments, and the well-devised action blocks stand out as the film's assets. However, the dragged second half with repetitive sequences, and a predict...(more)

This Sivakarthikeyan starrer is too formulaic and old fashioned for its own good
Madharaasi does not make ample use of Rukmini Vasanth as she is forced to play a one-note love interest who ends up being a pawn in between the villains game. She looks radiant on screen and its a shame the writing does not do her any service this time around. The love angle does not blossom in int...(more)

Sivakarthikeyan brings all the firepower in AR Murugadoss' terrific return to form
Madharaasi, thankfully, comes as a saving grace, showing how impactful action can be when propelled by well-written pathos. It also shows how writers can weave in social themes without pandering to the crowd. Madharaasi speaks about a real danger that Tamil Nadu should be wary of gun culture and...(more)
