A Breezy Watch!
Comparisons aside, Oh Manapenne is a breezy watch and retains the essence of the original. As light hearted as it is, this is a film that asks pertinent questions on the arrange marriage system, the concept of dowry and the constant pressure on parents to get their daughter married off at the earlie...(more)

A decent remake that misses a few beats
Remakes are tricky business because despite their competency, they get measured against the success of the original. Rarely does a remake outshine its source material, and Oh Manapenne!, though competent, does not match up to the original Telugu film. To those eyes, however, that have not been expos...(more)

A feel-good romance that feels refreshing despite its contrivances
Despite the contrivances, the second half has a lot of moments that make it likeable. Harish Kalyan appears convincing as a good-for-nothing guy who slowly amends his ways because of the girl he meets. The character reminds one of Siddharth Mehra (Ranbir Kapoor) from Wake Up Sid. (more)

OH MANAPENNE! IS A WELL-CAST REMAKE THAT'S AS CHARMING AS PELLI CHOOPULU
Even though Kaarthikk Sundar faithfully follows the script of the Pelli Choopulu (written and directed by Tharun Bhascker Dhaassyam), and even for those who have seen the original and are familiar with the emotional beats of the plot, the director manages to make Oh Manapenne! feel fresh.(more)

The editing is crisp, the music is soulful and creates a fantasy-like mood. The cinematography compliments the film really well. With the usa...(more)

This remake reminds us why we loved Pelli Choopulu
Harish Kalyan and Priya Bhavani Shankar are easy on the eyes. And also, they bring a sleek, modern and refreshing appeal to the movie, something similar to what Vijay Deverakonda and Ritu Varma achieved in Pelli Choopulu.(more)

This Pellichoopulu remake is refreshing, realistic
Pellichoopulu marked the arrival of Vijay Deverakonda in a big way, and Harish Kalyan is a worthy match in the role of Karthik. With his effortless screen presence, he makes the character instantly likable. Priya Bhavani Shankar as the clear-headed and highly ambitious Shruti is the kind of female l...(more)
