Diya's plot is sensible to the horror genre. If the predictability factor is pushed aside, the film might engage you emotionally!

Director Vijay's touches are very much seen throughout the film, with a slice of positivity and emotions, thrown upon here and there. With a less predictable and gripping screenplay, Vijay's Diya could have impacted even more.(more)

This Sai Pallavi, Naga Shaurya-starrer is let down by an indistinct script

The only thing I kept thinking about was what were they trying to do and how much of it was lost in an attempt to keep the run time to under two hours. A big thumbs down to Diya. There are a million other horror and thrillers that leave you wanting for more. Diya isn't one of them.(more)

Diya is structured as a revenge thriller, the main difference being that it is the ghost of a child - an unborn one, at that - which is on a killing spree.

Diya isn't compelling enough. Vijay works with tropes that are too familiar - lonely apartment block, freak accidents, bumbling cops (the comic scenes with RJ Balaji are quite jarring compared to the sombre tone of the film), and underwritten characters who we never come to care about.
