The Boys are back and so is the fun!!!

Chennai 28 II is everything you want it to be. A fun outing that could also be nostalgic to a section of the audience, this is one solid second innings. With outdoor games possibly losing the craze among today's kids with smartphones always at their clutches, this film could well be one reminder to the future generation on what real fun 'is' or if you want to sound pessimistic 'was'.(more)

An enjoyable second innings

Chennai 28-II will satisfy the audience who adores Venkat Prabhu's brand of comedies as you have plenty of them in it. There has been a lot of work behind comedy portions, loads of them were made in a subtle way which would only grab your attention while watching the second time. (more)

Venkat and team hit a boundary again

Chennai 600028 II: Second Innings does have some shortcomings in terms of narration and comedy when compared to its predecessor. But, the film's steady pace and cricket makes it watchable. While Venkat hit a sixer with Chennai 600028, he has somehow managed a four with the sequel.(more)

Chennai 600028 II: Second Innings Movie Review

As with Chennai 600028, the filmmaking feels unpolished, and the cricket matches are shot and edited in a scrappy manner that makes the film relatable in a way Venkat Prabhu's previous big-budget films did not make us feel. Every time a minor supporting character from that film from Shanmugasundaram to Gopi's bat makes an appearance here, you feel like cheering for them. And the cricket match that drives the second half against an opponent who has been the Sharks scourge has enough tense moments to thrills us. That the stakes are higher this time only makes it even more nail-bitingly exciting.(more)

Chennai 28 II is a jolly good film which is a satisfying watch.

The director has extracted the best from his actors. Shiva and Jai have made a good comeback, while Premji seem to be at his best in his brother's films. Vaibhav as Marudhu is very good while rest of the supporting cast are well-utilised. Technically, Chennai 28 II is the upgraded version of the first part. Be it cinematography or music, the film looks slick. Especially Yuvan has used fresh tunes along with rehashed versions from the first part to kindle our memory.(more)
